Export Access

Users with view only access require extra permissions to be able to export assets from Figma files.

Overview

When screens or assets need to be copied from a Figma file, access permissions must be set correctly.

Follow the steps below for each file that requires exportable assets.

Sharing Privileges

When sharing a link, open the settings menu and confirm that sharing and copy permissions are enabled.

For more detailed guidelines on sharing Figma/FigJam prototypes, you can view the official documentation.

Sharing Frames

Frames contain both assets and layouts, so the correct frames must be made exportable. View-only users can download exportable frames through the Inspect panel.

To set up exportable frames:

  1. Select the frame or component frame that you wish to make exportable
  2. In the Design panel, select + under the Export section
  3. Set up an option for exporting the asset
  4. Repeat for other frames and assets

Exporting assets

View-only users see an Export tab in the right-hand panel when selecting an exportable frame.

This panel provides options for choosing file type and size before downloading the asset.
