Export Access

Users with view only access require extra permissions to be able to export assets from Figma files.

Overview

If a user required the ability to copy screens or assets from a Figma file it is important to set up access correctly. Follow the steps below for each file you wish to make have exportable assets.

When sharing a link it is important to click on the settings button and make sure that the user has access to share and copy files. For more detailed guidelines on sharing Figma/FigJam prototypes you can view the official documentation.

Sharing Frames

Frames wrap both assets and the entire layout so it is important to make the appropriate frames exportable. Exportable frames will be available to view-only users to download from their inspect panel.

Set up your frames

  1. Select the frame or component frame that you wish to make exportable
  2. At the bottom of the design panel click the "+" on the Export heading
  3. Set up an option for exporting the asset
  4. Repeat for other frames and assets

Exporting Assets

View-only users will be have a new Export tab in their right panel when they select a frame that is exportable.

Once selected they will be offered options on the size and filetype of the asset.
